Your Moment at the Well
The Lord’s insight. The Lord tells us the Truth. We must reject the lies.
Genesis 2:24: God speaks to us about the Truth of marriage. He says, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”
Genesis 1:27: God speaks to us about the sexes He created in humans. He says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Romans 1:26-27 speaks to us about same sex relationships. It says, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men.”
We live in a time now that as people come out of the closet, we put God into the closet. Today we are generally more likely to affirm what man says more than to stand on what God says. We want people to be able to live free of the feeling of condemnation no matter who they are and what they do.
Cain was this way. He wanted God to respect him and to accept his offering just as God respected and accepted Able and his offering. But Able accepted God’s Truth about the offering and Cain did not. Cain did not want the feeling of condemnation that came with his choice.
We are this way today. But now we have so much of Cain’s ways in us from the highest person to the lowest person that it means believers among us like Able are made live under the condemnation of being intolerant to others. The Cain in us has led us to make a lie become the truth we want.
God has spoken to us about everything we will ever encounter. He speaks to us about things that are not by reminding us of things that are Truth. Many people want us to believe the Lord is accepting and affirming of all of us just the way we are no matter how we are inclined to behave or to believe.
When God told us what marriage is; when He told us of the sexes He created; and when He told us about acceptable sexual relations between man and woman, He did not forget to speak to us about what is not. Believers must understand this. The Cains among us want us to believe God forgot something.
Man will want us to believe that marriage can be something more or that there are more than two sexes or that acceptable sexual relations can happen between committed people no matter their sex and marital status. But these views are lies. In a way, these are the views of the Cains among us who want their views to become the truths that God did not speak about before.
When the Lord tells us what is Truth, we must learn to reject what is not. We must learn to confirm the Truth and never to affirm a lie. Man starts their thinking by making a lie seem like the truth and then they dare the believer to find a in scripture anything that would contradict their sense of truth.
The Lord may not specifically speak to us about rejecting marriage between two people of the same sex because there was and is no need for that. The Truth is that He defines marriage between a man and a woman. We must start with and end with that.
We must put what we think up against what He has already said. In no place does the Lord allow for the Truth to be expanded to include what man wants or believes. Scripture will never affirm a lie to be a Truth, and neither should we do that.
God is silent about many things like these because He has already spoken to us about what is Truth. The Truth defines what is and at the same time it reveals what is not. Belief in the Lord is the only way to be saved. Any other thought is a lie. We must never put the Truth up against a lie so we can affirm that the Truth is complete. We must put the lie up against the Truth so we can reject the lie to be more than what is Truth.
