Live Delivered

While the Israelites were wondering about in the desert for forty years, God sustained them by providing them manna for food each day. They were instructed to take only what they could eat each day. But on the sixth day they were to take enough food for two days so they wouldn’t have to gather on the Sabbath Day.

When they failed to follow these instructions, the food they gathered would spoil. They learned obedience and dependence on God this way. When they crossed into the Promised Land, God stopped providing them manna. They had to learn the wisdom needed to go from gathering what was provided to preparing for what they needed.

God provided them wisdom to build storehouses that would contain things of value they would need going forward. Many years later, Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:19, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

In a way like with the Israelites, Jesus is telling us it is time for us to move on from simply living in the desert of today, gathering and storing up things that perish.  It is time for us to cross over into the heavenly land and to live in a way that we store up things that will have eternal value.

So, I asked myself, what would the Lord find in our storehouses? This is what I found. 

Those of us who are still focused on ourselves will store up the kinds of things that spoil. We will store up things that are important to us; the things that make us important before others.  But the Lord is not asking us to store the things we treasure. The things we treasure are not treasures at all.

We should store up things that are treasures. And we should store our treasures in our heavenly storehouse.  Just like stored food will eventually spoil, when we store up the pride we feel when we give to others, our pride will fail.  But when we store up the treasure of provision to others, it will never fail.  And when we store up as our treasures of our positions and status, these can be taken away.  But when we store up the treasure of humility and support for others neither can be taken back again.

When we store up as our treasures what we get from our hard work, thieves can come in and steal it.  But when we store up the treasure of hard work for others, there is nothing thieves can steal. The treasure is not what we get from what we do but what we get to do for others.

When we store up as our treasures the love and service others give us, it can grow rust.  But when we store up the treasure of love and service to others, it will never rust. We treasure getting love and service from others, but the real treasures are loving and serving others.

Storing what we treasure is nothing more than gathering what we want to have and to consume.  Storing up treasures is taking what we have that is of great importance and help to others and providing that in abundance for the good of others.

Our own storehouse of things we treasure should be close to empty.  Let’s make sure we store up our treasures in the heavenly storehouses of others.  For scripture also tells us where our treasures are, there our hearts are also.

In Matthew we find the story of Jesus providing food for over 4000 people who were following Him in the desert.  Matthew 15:24 says, “Jesus said to them, how many loaves do you have?”  Jesus is speaking to His disciples when He says this.

The disciples told Him they had seven loaves of bread and a few fish.  That was enough food to feed the disciples and Jesus, but no more.  They knew that wouldn’t feed 4000 people, so they wanted Jesus to send the people away to buy food for themselves.  Send them away?  The Lord never simply sends us away.

There are two types of people among us today.  There are those who will choose to walk with the Lord where He goes, and there are those who choose to walk our own paths while we hope He is on the same path as we are.

When we walk our own paths, we focus on ourselves even when we offer to help others.  The disciples did this.  They had food enough for themselves, but they took no steps to provide food for the others.  They didn’t ask the Lord, “Can You do something with this to feed as many of them as possible with what we have?”

When we walk with the Lord, we are focused more on what He sees in our circumstances than on what we are experiencing in our circumstances.  His eyes are always on the eyes of our hearts.  He watches us to make sure we have all that we need to stay with Him as we live with the challenges of life.

The Lord will never simply send us away.  Instead, if we are not walking with Him, He will gently and lovingly ask us to come unto Him and to walk with Him.  It is with Him that He gives us rest from the things that weary us the most.  He asks us to come.  If we stay away, we are doing that on our own.  

Scripture says the people had been walking with Jesus for three days without any food.  It says He had compassion on them.  He did not want to send them away hungry, lest they might faint when they were on their own again.  Jesus doesn’t want us to go back when we have gone forth with Him.

In the same way, He doesn’t want us to live on our own.  He doesn’t want us to faint under the burdens of life we take on by ourselves.  Instead, He wants us to walk with Him.  When we do this – even for as few as three days—He fills us with all that we need to walk and not faint at the things we endure when we are with Him.

When He calls us to Himself, He never sends us back to ourselves.  When we learn to walk with Him, we learn to let Him carry the burdens of life we will endure.  If you feel alone and about to faint from the pressures of life, stop.  Look where you are and what you are doing and check yourself.

If you see only your footprints and your shadow around you, perhaps you are on the wrong side of the road.  When Jesus is with you, you will find your path littered with compassion and provision and favor and, most of all, the Love for you and others that only comes from Him.

Life is hard, living life is harder, and living life as yourself is hardest when you don’t know what to do with yourself.  During Noah’s time the bible says God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all the flesh had corrupted their ways on earth.  Genesis 8:12.

But we know that God was pleased with the way Noah lived, for it says, “Noah found grace in God’s eyes.”  But why?  How is it that Noah lived so differently from all other people of his times?  The answer is seen here.  Noah walked with God.  The bible says Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations.

What does it mean that Noah walked with God?  We need to know this because everyone else during Noah’s time got it wrong, and they lost their lives because of it.  Mankind typically lives by trying to walk out their lives in response to the things that happen to them or because of the things they want to happen for them.  At worst man wants to please other men, and at best man wants to please himself.

Neither is the life we should live.  We prefer to walk with ourselves and before others.  We do the things we believe are right for us and before others.  But we do not have the knowledge or the skill or the understanding to do this in an effective way.  We cannot control how others respond to how we live.  We cannot see that we should change how we live.  

Noah had the sense to live a different type of life and for different reasons.  We need that sense today. When you walk with God, you learn to live the life you believe God wants you to live.  That is the life we should walk out before God, and the one we should live out before others.

When we live this life, we see that we need to change our ways because we typically try to live by responding to or anticipating how other people will respond to us. We ought to live by how we want God to respond to us.

But we are our own worst enemies when it comes to life and how we live.  We live trying to get people to be good to us when we should want to live so that God will be good to us.  We live trying to get people to do right before us when we should live so that God will do what is right for us.  We live trying to get people to satisfy our needs when we should live so that God knows He satisfies all our needs.

But why don’t we know this?  And if we know it, why don’t we live it out?  Why did all men live their own way, but Noah lived Gods way?  Why didn’t God give us an instruction book for how we should think, believe, and live?

Well, He did.  He gave us the free will to teach our wills how to live.  And He gave us His Word and His Spirit to be our teachers.  But on this we fail because we allow circumstances and others to teach our wills how to react to what is happening or to what we want to happen.

We must understand that free will is not free unless we give it back to Him to be taught by Him how to live freely.  We lack knowledge of and understanding of how to live free from the stuff life throws at us and from the stuff we throw at life.

As much as we try to change the things around us and with us for our good, we lack the wisdom to tell ourselves we are our own worst enemies.  We fail to realize we must change some things within us if we want to change the things around us.

Let’s stop listening to what we tell ourselves and start listening to what we refuse to hear about ourselves.  That is the wisdom God wants us to live by.  Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear and increase learning.  And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.”

Let’s start living today learning what Proverbs is saying to us, and let’s start rejecting what we say to ourselves.  In this way we can stop being our own worst enemies.

In many of my recent messages, I am reminding us of how difficult things are today.   Man has become very good at writing new norms and standards for the beliefs and behaviors they expect us to demonstrate toward one another.

Throughout the ages of mankind, when we have turned to our own ways, we have ultimately lost our way.  Scripture says the people were warned against this by God.  Judges 12:8 says, “You shall not do as we are doing here today, every man doing what is right in his own eyes.”

The more we remove God from the way we live, the more our own ways will divide us.  The more we celebrate and cheer what is different, the more different we become.  We cannot have our cake and eat it too.  We cannot have God in our lives and still hang on to the way we live before all other people.

How did we get so far off track?  Well, from a believer’s standpoint, we have become preoccupied with changing how we live before each other more than we change how we live before God.  We choose to come to God, and we even choose to accept Christ, but we do not choose to Believe in Him for the way we should live.

There are more than 8 billion people alive in the world today.  We cannot have a world of peace and harmony when every person believes in doing what is right in their own eyes.  We cannot have a country if we believe that.  We cannot have a state, or a city, or a town, or even a family that believes each person can do what is right in their own eyes.

I once asked a Marine Corps General how long did it take for the Marines to make a person a Marine.  He responded by telling me the Marines Corps could not make a person a Marine.  He said people joined the Marines every day, but each person had to choose to become a Marine.

There are many people who believe God is just who He says He is.  They call themselves believers, but their belief does not cause them to choose to change their ways.  Joining the association of believers is not the same as choosing to become a believer.

When we choose to become a believer, the evidence of that is born out in how we live before God and in how others will praise God for that.  We do not rewrite the norms for how we live before each other.  We personify how these norms should be lived before God’s standard.

A believer is a changed person living more like God lives and not just an enlightened person living more like we believe man should live.  Part of the reason things are so hard today is because believers don’t choose to become believers.  We say we believe, but we live no differently than many nonbelievers.  If we keep doing this, things will only become harder.

Let’s make some of these hard things easier for everyone.  When we decide to become a Christian, let’s also choose to become a believer.  When we do, we will learn to stop doing what man says is right.  Instead, we will stick to what is right before God.

I’m sure many of you have heard the phrase “you cannot have your cake and eat it too.”  Life doesn’t give us the option to eat our favorite cake and at the same time keep our favorite cake on the table.  We can have one or the other but not both.

You cannot have a good job that keeps you traveling a lot and at the same time have lots of time to spend at home.  In the same ways, many of us have come to want God, but we don’t want His terms.  We cannot have God and have our own ways.

We see this problem all throughout the bible.  In the first book of Samuel, the bible tells us of a time when the Israelites wanted to have a king.  They demanded that Samuel give them a king.  They wanted to look like all the people around them but at the same time still have God as what make them different.

Samuel warned them against this desire, but they wouldn’t accept no.  In 1 Samuel 8:6, God says this to Samuel, “Now therefore heed the voice of the people in all they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.”

God was saying to Samuel the people wanted to live in both worlds—the world of the people around them and the world where God wanted them to live.  The people didn’t think they were rejecting God, they thought they were just being ordinary people like God wanted them to be.

The fact that we are God’s people makes us extraordinary, not ordinary.  If we are going to be God’s people, we must accept the terms that God prescribes for this.  We cannot have His cake and eat it too.

Then in verse 9, God tells Samuel to warn the people of what it will be like when they have a king.  He says, “Now therefore, heed their voice.  However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

Samuel warned the people of all that would come.  He showed them how their lives would be changed.  They would be under the rule of a king, and they would still have to obey God.  But the people demanded a king anyway.  They were together in this desire.  They believed that since they all wanted it, this would make it right.

They wanted things on their terms.  Today, we have this same mindset with us.  The Supreme Court just overturned an old ruling that legalized abortion.  One account said they believed the decision to legalize abortion was wrong all along.

Whether we agree with abortion or not is not the issue.  It’s clear one side must be right, and the other must be wrong.  We cannot have this cake and eat it too.  When we remove the one standard that is right for all, then any other standard is wrong.  If God has a position on abortion, our decision must align with His position.  We cannot have our position and still live by His terms.

When we reject God’s terms, we become unintelligent.  We act in unintelligent ways.  We make poor decisions.  And worse, we legalize our desires, so they have the force of the legitimacy of law behind them.  But still, a poor desire supported in our laws is a law that doesn’t stand the test of common sense.

We cannot have our cake and eat it too.  God determines His own terms for us.  A majority who believes a man can be women and a women can be man is probably a majority that believes in what is wrong if that position fails the terms God has designed for us.

We cannot fight our own battles and have God fight them too.  If you want to eat your cake and still have it too, you must come to accept God and His terms for how you live.  You are not ordinary. You are extraordinary when you come to live on God’s terms.

In Ephesians 6:1-3 children are told to obey their parents as in the Lord.  In verse 2 they are specifically told, “Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise.”  The promise comes in verse 3.  It says, “That it may go well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”

If you are a child, and we all are because we are here, you must honor your parents no matter what you think of them.  God wants things to go well for us, and for that starts with each of us having a healthy dose of honor and respect for our parents, no matter our circumstances.

I am a husband and a father.  I don’t just want my kids to honor me, I want to be the type of father whom they would love to honor.  I don’t want to make it hard for them, I want to make it easy for them to obey the one Word from God that promises them a long life where things go well for them.

But this is difficult because all around us we have examples of fathers and parents who struggle at being the types of people anyone would want to honor.  When I consider my own parents, I recall that I never had a single occasion where my father and I were angry towards one another.  We had a great relationship.  He tried to be a great father, and I tried to be a great son.  But that isn’t enough to earn honor.

The only example we have of the type of Father God wants us to be is found in God Himself.  So this Father’s Day, let’s think of being the type of Father that Jesus speaks of in the prayer He teaches His disciples in Matthew 6:8.  Jesus says:

“Our Father Who is in heaven.”  Heaven is a great place, and we know God the Father lives there.  We should be the type of fathers that makes it easy for our children to always know where they stand and where they live.

“Hallowed by Thy name.”  The greatest honor is found in God’s name.  Fathers should live in a way that brings honor to themselves and others.

“Give us this day our daily bread.”  God the father is our selfless provider.  Fathers should be selfless providers for their children.

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”  God is ready to forgive us of the things we owe Him.  Fathers should always be ready to forgive people who are indebted to them.  Fathers owe their children more than their children will ever owe them.

“Do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.”  God the father is our best example.  He leads us in the right ways to the right places, and He teaches us how to govern ourselves.

Fathers should lead their children by their example, keeping themselves away from temptations and away from things that are evil.  Your children will learn from the things the father learns.

As we acknowledge Father’s Day this year, let this be the year that you fathers commit more to live in such a way that your children would find it a joy to honor you for the life that you live before them.

God the Father is the greatest example of a father we can have.  Let’s make it a desire that each father here on earth will be the next greatest example of a father their children can have.

You know the story of Joseph in Egypt and the seven years of feast and seven years of famine he led the Egyptians through.  God revealed to Joseph the meaning of Pharoah’s dream.  Pharoah had dreamed that he saw seven fat and healthy cows who were consumed by seven skinny and weak cows.

Seven years of feast would be consumed by seven years of famine.  The famine would be so great that the people would forget the seven years of feast they had enjoyed before.  We are in some tough times today.  Whether it is a time of feast or a time of famine I don’t know, but I believe soon we will forget many of our blessings because our trials will be so great.

It doesn’t matter if it is feast or famine, it is present throughout all the land.  And we live in the land, so we will not be able to escape it.  But like Joseph, we can be ready to get through it if we listen to God’s way for us.

But what is God’s way and how do we follow it when we are subject to things outside of our control?  In Ephesians 3:20, scripture says, “Now unto Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”  Unto Him what?  Scripture says unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus.  

No matter what is going on around us.  No matter what is happening with us.  Things may be outside of our control, but nothing is outside of God’s control especially when we offer Him the glory He is due.  It is difficult for us to glorify God because we want so much for ourselves.  That is the big reason we are living in a time of famine.  We don’t have enough to satisfy the desires we have for ourselves.

Wanting less so we can have more probably makes no sense to many of us.  But this is exactly the way God wants us to live.  The less we want, the less likely we will want to live by our own strength.  The less we want, the more likely we will depend on the Lord to sustain the little we desire.  Learning to glorify God in the good times is one of the ways we move Him to favor us.

God’s ways are different from our ways.  Things are bad now, and they will get tougher for us and our children.  Some people will come after us, and they will not know anything but a famine of desire because the need will be so great.  God does not keep us in the feast, nor does He stop the famine from coming.  He keeps waiting for us to change our desires.

What He does is show us the way to feast in the middle of the famine and to conserve in the middle of the feast.  So here are seven practical ways we can live now that will help us to feast in the middle of the famine we face and to conserve in the feast we enjoy.

Learn to want less than what the people around you want.  When you restrain your desires, you will achieve more of your desires.  Want less and have more.

Learn to want what produces the things others want.  Let people have what is new and unaffordable; you have what is affordable and satisfactory.

Learn to give more of what you have.  People who keep all that they have will ultimately be indebted to those who will want little of what you have.

Learn to be satisfied with what you have.  The glass that God’s gives us is neither half full nor half empty, but it is just right for those who look to Him to provide for their needs.

Learn to save for your family and for others.  When you save for others, others will learn to live for you.

Learn to live so dependent on God that you can put the lives of people who depend on you ahead of your own.  Let the Lord use you to fulfill someone else’s prayers.

Learn that when we consume everything around us, what we feast on will not be a filling.  A famine is only one credit card transaction away when we live by our own means.

When we learn to want less, God will step in and give us more.  So, lets learn to temper what we want.  Whether it is food, shelter, friendship, work, play, love, even health.  When we learn to want less of what the flesh desires, God will help us to have more of what the Spirit can provide.

Now unto Him who can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can think or ask, to Him we give the glory of our desires.  Whether feast to famine or famine to feast, we learn to want less so He can give us more.

These are the words of a song I love.  It is called Yes Amen.  The words “Yes Amen” appear together in only one scripture I can find in the bible.  2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

I wondered, what are the promises of God to us?  But I didn’t wonder long, for I quickly realized that God Himself is a promise to us.  He is not an object that cannot hear us; He is not an object that cannot speak to us; He is not an object that cannot be heard by us.

I realized it was pointless for me to try to know all His promises toward us.  He is His promise to us.  So instead of searching, we should say Yes to Christ and Amen to all that it means for us—even the things we do not know yet.

There is no one like Him.  That is His promised Truth to us.  And Christ affirms the Truth of this for us by being our Yes and our Amen.  God Himself looked down at His Son and cried out, “Yes Jesus, You did all that I asked!”  And Amen to the fact that all that He asked was done by His Son. 

There is nothing that does not obey Him—even the winds.  Christ affirms this in that death could not hold Him.  Let’s say, “Yes and Amen!”

The universe trembles when it hears His voice.  When Christ speaks, it calms the trembles in our lives.  Let’s say, “Yes and Amen!”

The storms are quieted by Him.  Christ calmed the storms on the seas; He can calm the storms of your life.  Let’s say, “Yes and Amen!”

He lives in us.  He is not a molten calf that sits dormant where we place it.  He is alive, and He lives in us so He can live out our lives with us.  Let’s say, “Yes and Amen!”

There is nothing He cannot do for us because there is nothing He cannot do when it is His desire.

So, instead of trying to figure out what are His promises towards us, we must learn He is His promise to us.  There is no one like Him. His Word never changes.  There is no place in our life that He will not move.  All power is in Him.

We should learn that there is nothing we can imagine that is of Him that He cannot do.  Our response to all this should simply be to say, “Yes and Amen!”  Yes, to Christ being our Savior, and Amen to the fact that He is the gift of all God’s promises towards us.

Stop and ponder today.  There are many things in your life that are waiting for your “Yes, and Amen”.

I am sure you are all aware of the mass killing that happened this week in a Texas school.  I don’t want to make this incident any more important than the many other events and times we have had mass killings across our nation.  We hurt when we remember the first incident, and we hurt now.  It seems we have a sickness that cannot be treated or healed.

So, in the face of what seems like constant hurt and pain that is all around, what can we do for ourselves and for others?  There is no easy answer.  But first, we must understand what is happening in our land.  We are living in a land and in a time with many more nonbelievers than believers.  And we live in a land and in a time where some believers live more by their feelings than by God’s feelings.

There are many who believe there is an answer to every question, a solution to every problem, and a good ending to every bad story.  But I’m not sure that is true.  Sometimes bad things will happen because bad things exist.  And sometimes, bad things will keep good from happening.

So why are we here, and why is the land so sick?  Well, there may be lots of reasons, but I believe we live in a world of wickedness now more than ever.  To be wicked is to do things that are harmful towards others in a very intentional way. To be wicked is to decide on your own moral sense of right and wrong.  To be wicked is to hate others and to even hate yourself.

Psalm 7:9 says, “Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end.  But establish the Just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.” We must understand that we have wickedness in the world because we have wicked people among us.  The word wicked sounds really bad.  We are probably very hesitant to refer to anyone as wicked.

The wicked live by their feelings.  They live by their own sense of right and wrong, their own sense of moral and immoral.  They do not accept that there is a higher sense of right and wrong different from what they believe is right for themselves.  They do not care about themselves, so they are unable to care about you or me.

The wicked corrupt the deepest and most vulnerable parts of who we are.  It will make us believe we can have all we want in the way that we want.  It will make us think we do not have to change things about us to make things around us better.  The wicked make us learn to live with wickedness as the norm.  Wickedness will make us unable to care about what we should care about, and it will make us care for what we should reject.

But this is all the work of wickedness.  This work will keep us sick in our souls, so our land will be sick.  But there is something we can all do to stop the wickedness around us.  We must understand that wickedness in people is what destroys other people.

We need to do something about how easily it seems that people can get their hands on a gun.  But we must understand that if we took all the guns away, a wicked person would find another way to do their wicked things.

Guns do not cause a wicked person to do wicked things.  Wickedness in the heart causes a wicked person to do wicked things.  Wickedness is not a mental problem as much as it is simply a heart problem.

So lets join in prayer and ask the Lord to bring the wicked works of the wicked people to an end.  

Let’s ask the Lord to reestablish the Just, the way we lead and the way we follow.

Let’s ask the Lord to test the hearts and minds of us all and reveal any lurking wickedness deep down in our souls.

Let’s ask the Lord to focus the believers on having upright hearts more than judging hearts.  Upright according to His ways, not our own.

It is not enough to just think the opposite from those around us; we must think in just ways for the people around us.

God is Just.  He will heal our land and deliver us from this sickness when we accept that much of our ways are morally right for humans but wrong for Him.

Lord, please heal our land.  And start first with me.

If I have any wickedness towards others lurking in me, please root it out and replace it with Your Love.

Recently, I received an unwanted email from someone who suggested that I qualified to purchase the house of my dreams. I am satisfied with the house we have.   The email said all I needed to do was to apply for a loan that was already guaranteed.  I wasn’t asking for a loan guarantee.  I deleted the email without thought because it was designed to get me to want what I didn’t need.

That email was saying about me – your current house is old – it is dated – it needs upgrades – you can have more and better for less. It was saying to me that at that moment, I had nothing better. I don’t listen to people who put down the things I have.

If we are never satisfied with what we have, we will never have anything better than our next desire. I already had satisfaction. I didn’t need something someone else said was better than what I had.

Paul speaks to this in a way in the book of Philippians.  Philippians 6:11 says, “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.”  Paul is telling us he knows how to live humbly when he has much, and he knows how to live abundantly when he has little.

Paul was saying he could be hungry, and he could be full at the same time.  How is that so?  Because he was satisfied.  Nothing was better for Paul than what he already had.  Now this was a hard lesson for me to accept.  I used to look at what I had, then I would think about what I didn’t have, and I would think about what I wanted.  I felt like I could not be happy unless I had something better than the thing that made me happy yesterday.

But being happy is a fleeting thing. Happiness is hard to find and harder to keep. The only way to be really happy is to be satisfied. When you are satisfied, nothing you don’t have could ever be better than the things you do have. Learn to desire and to seek after the spirit of satisfaction so you do not run after the quick feet of happiness.

Be satisfied with a good name; it is better than a store house of goods.

Be satisfied in heart with the things that are good and things that are not so good; the heart is made better and stronger when we go through times of sorrow more than when we live only for laughter and happiness.

Hear the people who are smarter than you; listening to wise people is better than dancing to the music of those who misguide us.

Be patient with yourself so you will be patient with others; being patient is better than being proud.

Be gracious towards others; being gracious will teach you to how to control uncontrollable emotions such as anger and anxiety.

And if you find those too hard to accept, remember this. There is nothing better than having the Love of God abiding in your life. His love is better than life itself. So, if you learn to give up your life so that He will claim your life with His love, you will find that there is nothing better in life than the life of the Love of God.

When you have the Love of God in your life, there is nothing better that you could ever want or need. He will take your old life and let you live like it is new every day.

Be encouraged today.  Live as if you have the one thing for which there is nothing any better.

When you have what is best, it makes what you have better than it is, just as it is.

The Lord helps you to be satisfied with what you have when the best that you have is Him.  There is nothing better than that.
